Made for Medicine FAQs

  • No. Fortunately, thanks to generous funding from our partners including the Columbus Medical Association Foundation and Franklin County Board of Commissioners Office of Economic Engagement & Community Development, every child selected for the program can participate at no cost.

We do accept donations to sustain our work and help shape the next generation of physicians. Find out more and donate here

  • Though we understand that unforeseen circumstances do arise, participants are expected to attend every session. Due to the collaborative, quick-paced nature of the program, your child must be in attendance. There is a participation expectation agreement that every parent must sign annually for their student to be in good standing with the program. This agreement will be explained in further detail upon acceptance. If you know ahead of time that your child will not be able to attend every session, please wait to apply to a future cohort as your schedule permits.

  • Made for Medicine is designed to support and empower students in grades 6-12. The program is open to all students who share an interest in pursuing a career in medicine and advancing health equity through our outreach and online community. Information will be posted on this website when applications are open for upcoming cohorts.

  • The program will be held at the Columbus Medical Association (1390 Dublin Rd., Columbus, OH 43215), and various hospital/healthcare facilities.

  • Yes, you will need to provide your own transportation to all Made for Medicine programming sessions.

  • All of the sessions, including the White Coat Ceremony, will be held in person.

  • Because we are only accepting a limited number of students in our Phase I, we are unable to accept all who apply. There is not a waitlist for the 2025 cohort. However, if you are not accepted into the program this year, please do feel free to reapply.
